This is a very unusual looking fern, at first glance it doesn't resemble a fern at all until you look under the fronds and see the sori beneath. I know very little about this species, only that I found it growing on the forest floor at close to 2000 m elevation in wet coniferous forest in central Taiwan. It seem to require a very cool environment. The fern is much larger than it looks in the above picture - fronds are around 1 m long and 15 cm wide.
